PhD candidate in Economic Integration at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU).

Welcome to my professional blog, where I share insights and analysis in the field of economics. I am Daniel Feliciano Cruz, an economist and researcher from the Canary Islands, Spain. Through this platform, I aim to present my perspectives on macroeconomic theory, finance, and capitalist economic systems, often from an unconventional angle informed by Post-Keynesian economics. I have  always believed that embracing alternative theories and methodologies can provide fresh insights into the complexities of the economic landscape.

As an aspiring PhD researcher affiliated with the University of the Basque Country, my current research delves into the financialisation of the Spanish economy, analyzing its potential impact on both macroeconomic and microeconomic levels. This work seeks to untangle the intricate dynamics between finance and the broader economy, shedding light on modern economic systems.

Before embarking on my doctoral studies, I gained valuable experience through various roles, including an internship with the Presidency of the Canary Islands Government in collaboration with the Economists Association of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. During this time, I contributed to projects focused on sustainable development, including the design and drafting of the Canary Islands Agenda for Sustainable Development.

I hold a Master’s Degree in Economics from the Complutense University of Madrid, specializing in Political Economy and Advanced Public Economics, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of La Laguna, awarded with the Extraordinary Prize and Bachelor Excellence Award in Social and Legal Sciences. Additionally, I’ve enriched my academic journey with advanced training, including participation in courses like the FMM International Summer School, the EAEPE Summer School, and the Post Keynesian Economics Society Summer School. I also completed a University Diploma in Entrepreneurial Development at the University of La Laguna, enhancing my toolkit with entrepreneurial skills and perspectives.

I have had the privilege of presenting at various national and international conferences. In addition, in 2021, I was honored to be named the national Spanish winner of the "Ideas For The Future" university essay contest by the Development Bank of Latin America and the Bank of Spain for the essay "Desarrollo sostenible en América Latina y el Caribe: La Agenda 2030 como herramienta para el logro de economías ambientalmente sostenibles en la era posCOVID".

Thank you for visiting my blog. I look forward to sharing ideas, insights, and engaging discussions with you.
